Can you believe it’s mid-April already!? That can only mean only thing: graduation season is approaching. Yup, that’s right. It’s almost time for the Class of 2017 to receive their diplomas. Where has the time gone!?
Whether you’re graduating from high school or from college, you’re probably thinking of having a graduation party. After all, graduation is a huge milestone!
I remember my high school graduation party that my mom set up in our backyard – she made mason jar centerpieces, ordered some delicious catering, and even set up an “Advice for the Graduate” book. It was pretty Pinterest-worthy if you ask me.
Of course, each graduation party is different. Whether it’s a small family dinner or an elaborate celebration, I’ve come up with a list of 5 graduation party must-haves.

1. Minted Graduation Announcements
These announcements should be one of everyone’s graduation party must-haves! I’ve recently partnered with Minted to promote their 2017 Graduation Collection! Through Minted, you can collaborate with amazing artists to create a personalized and unique announcement. They offered to send me personalized announcements for my brother’s upcoming graduation, and I’m obsessed.
Not only does Minted allow you to personalize your design, but they’ll send you a digital proof to make sure it’s perfect before ordering. I really appreciated that feature because I changed the colors of the original design. After approving the proof, my announcements arrived in just one week (though they can take up to a week and a half to arrive)!
Here’s a photo of the final product! Please note that I’ve edited it to remove any personal information in order to protect my family’s privacy. They’re printed on gorgeous premium stock paper. The stock is pretty heavy duty and you can actually feel how high quality it is. Minted also offers a variety of paper options – Recycled, Pearlescent, and Double Thick, just to name a few.
One of Minted’s coolest features is the ability to have each recipient’s address printed right on to the envelope! You can upload an Excel file with all of the addresses and Minted will take care of the rest. This is definitely a feature that makes Minted stand out from the crowd.
Designs from Minted can be a little pricey. These invitations were $60 for 25 copies (and this particular design was on the cheaper side). But the quality of these prints definitely makes up for the price! Plus, Minted frequently has sales on their products, which definitely helps.
2. A Guestbook
Guest books are total graduation party must-haves. They’re a fun way for guests to leave encouraging message for the grad, and they make a great keepsake. At my graduation, I had a jar for people to leave advice about college! I loved reading through each note.
Get creative with your guestbook! Here are a few ideas to spark some inspiration:
I absolutely love this idea. Have your guests snap a photo using a Polaroid camera (like this one), slap it down in a book, and write some words of wisdom the grad. Such a fun way to commemorate the day!
This adorable rustic frame from RusticRestyle on Etsy is a creative way to display messages from your guests. By the end of the party, your grad will have a brand new piece of decor for a new dorm room or apartment!
Message in a Bottle
This one is super easy to DIY! Have guests write a “message in a bottle” with words of advice and encouragement.
3. A Photo Booth
No party is complete without a photo booth. All you need is a backdrop and a few fun props.
For the backdrop, you can hang a solid colored sheet on a wall or make a DIY photo booth backdrop frame (directions here). Then, add decorations like foil balloons and tinsel to make the scene pop. Have your guests pose in front of the backdrop and take photos with a Polaroid or even just your iPhone!
Of course, no photo booth is complete without props! DIY them or try these cute props from Amazon for just under $20!
4. Adorable Centerpieces
Centerpieces are soooo easy (and inexpensive!) to DIY. You can find a million ideas on Pinterest, but here are my favorites:
Candy Jar Centerpiece
These centerpieces can double as party favors. Decorate the jars and fill ’em up with the grad’s favorite treats.

Dazzle your guests with these fun statement centerpieces! Make it even more personalized by using the grad’s school colors.
